UOlivet hangs on to win at Trine, 9-6

ANGOLA, Ind. – The University of Olivet baseball team defeated Trine University (Ind.), 9-6, in the rubber game of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) series today at Jannen Field. With the win, the Comets win the series, two games to one.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Comets scored the first runs of the game when they put four runs on the scoreboard in the fourth inning. The first run came around to score on a throwing error on a double steal attempt. Junior EJ Suggitt followed with an RBI-single and then freshman Ryan Wiggins hit a two-run single.
- The Thunder got one back in the home half of the fourth. Olivet increased its lead to 8-1 with four runs in the top of fifth when freshman Kyle Lockwood recorded a sacrifice fly, Suggitt hit a two-run double and senior Mikey Kuzara ripped an RBI-single.
- Trine closed the gap to 8-6 when it plated two runs in the last half of the fifth and three runs in the sixth inning. Suggitt added another RBI-single in the seventh inning.
FOR THE COMETS
- Suggitt was 4-for-5 with one double and three singles. He drove in four runs and scored two runs.
- Senior Brody Parten reached base safely in each of his six plate appearances. He scored a team-leading three runs.
- Wiggins, and seniors Tyler Duncan and Will Myrick each tallied two hits.
- On the mound, freshman Dawson Sherman picked up his third win of the season. He allowed three runs on five hits and one walk over the first five innings.
- Freshman Wyatt Ball pitched the ninth to earn the save.

- Olivet travels to play Albion College on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m.
