Olivet College sophomore running back Mick Faasen (Belding High School) has been named to the All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Football first-team. Freshman running back Kemp Luchie (Grand Rapids/Forest Hills Northern High School) and freshman offensive lineman Josh Van Laan (Caledonia/ South Christian High School) were selected to the second-team.
Faasen led the Fighting Comet ground attack this year with 203 carries for a single-season school record 1,241 yards. He shared the team lead with 11 touchdowns and 66 points. Luchie was second on the team with 106 carries for 915 yards and seven touchdowns. Van Laan helped block for Olivet's rushing offense, which ranked second among all NCAA divisions of college football at 385.1 yards per game.
"Mick and Kemp did an excellent job because players like Josh on the offensive line did a great job blocking up front for them," said second-year Head Coach Irv Sigler. "Mick is the consummate team player, who does anything to help the team win."
In addition, sophomore tight end Josh Ewing (Hopkins High School), sophomore linebacker Andy Feuerstein (Belding High School), senior defensive lineman Mike Hall (Middleville High School), sophomore kicker Justin Hunwick (Sterling Heights/Stevenson High School), freshmen offensive linemen Kyle Lackscheide (Maple Valley High School) and Al Olds (Kingsley High School), freshman defensive lineman Blake Wagner (Belding High School) and senior defensive lineman Mike Wilson (Detroit/St. Agatha High School) were named to the coaches' honorable mention team.
