Sims named MIAA Defensive Defensive Player of the Week

Olivet College junior cornerback Cliff Sims (Reed City) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Defensive Player of the Week for football.

Sims helped the Comets (2-3, 1-1 MIAA) beat Hope College, 31-24, Oct. 8, for the first time since 1991. He recorded five solo tackles, broke up one pass and intercepted three passes with 60 return yards. Two of the interceptions came in the final three minutes, 15 seconds of the game to preserve the Olivet win. For the season, Sims has 25 tackles and five interceptions.

The Comets are back in action Saturday, Oct. 15, at Adrian College. Kickoff from Maple Stadium is 2 p.m.
