Eight Olivet College student-athletes named to 2006 All-MIAA football teams
Eight Olivet College student-athletes have been named to the 2006 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) football teams. Seniors Ryan Adams, Ken Lackscheide and DeShaun Warren along with juniors Nate Hughes and DeRan Thomas earned first-team All-MIAA honors. Juniors James Boyd and Marc Miller along with sophomore Carl Mulder earned second-team All-MIAA honors. Warren was also added to the list as a second-team return specialist.

Seniors Ryan Adams (Middleville/Thornapple Kellogg), Ken Lackscheide (Vermontville/Maple Valley) and DeShaun Warren (Detroit/Denby) along with juniors Nate Hughes (Marshall) and DeRan Thomas (Detroit/H.W. Notre Dame) earned first-team All-MIAA honors. Juniors James Boyd (Rochester/Stoney Creek) and Marc Miller (Sunfield/Lake Odessa) along with sophomore Carl Mulder (Battle Creek/Lakeview) earned second-team All-MIAA honors. Warren was also added to the list as a second-team return specialist.
Adams, Hughes, Miller, Thomas and Warren were a part of the Comet defense, which ranked first in the MIAA in scoring defense (18.6 ppg), rushing defense (80.2 ypg) and total defense (250.4 ypg). Miller had a team-high 61 tackles, including 39 solo stops. Thomas also had 39 solo tackles along with 17 assisted tackles for 56 total stops. Hughes led the Olivet secondary with three interceptions and six pass break-ups to go along with 49 tackles. Adams recorded 28 tackles, including a team-high 11 for loss yardage. Warren tallied 39 tackles. He also returned 14 kickoffs for a 30.9 average. Lackscheide led the conference in punting with 29 punts for a 40.1 average. His longest punt was 57 yards.
Boyd was the starting center on the Olivet offensive line. Mulder caught a team-high 36 passes for 542 yards and five touchdowns. He also returned 18 punts for 222 yards and a touchdown. Mulder's 38 points was first on the team.
In addition, freshman running back Pat Clasgens (Livonia/Stevenson), junior defensive lineman Matt Reinhardt (Gaylord), junior tight end Rod Sanders (Detroit/H.W. Notre Dame), sophomore linebacker Michael Terranova (Lansing/Lansing Catholic) and junior offensive lineman Chris VanDalsen (Jenison) earned coaches' honorable mention honors.
Under the direction of Head Coach Dominic Livedoti, the Comets finished the season with a 6-4 overall record and tied for second-place in the MIAA with a 5-2 record.
