Four Olivet College football players named to D3football.com All-North Region teams
The Olivet College football team continues to earn postseason honors, as four players have been named to the 2007 D3football.com All-North Region Teams and are now eligible for D3football.com All-American honors.
The Olivet College football team continues to earn postseason honors, as four players have been named to the 2007 D3football.com All-North Region Teams and are now eligible for D3football.com All-American honors. Junior defensive back Michael Terranova (Lansing/Lansing Catholic) is a first-team selection, while sophomore running back Pat Clasgens (Livonia/Stevenson), senior defensive end Marc Miller (Sunfield/Lake Odessa) and sophomore punter Ryan Patten (Charlotte) are third-team selections.
Terranova led the Comets' secondary with 71 total tackles, including 39 solo stops. He also had four interceptions, returning two for touchdowns. Clasgens carried the ball 173 times for 995 yards with nine touchdowns. Miller finished the season with 58 total tackles, including a team-leading 15 for loss yardage and six quarterback sacks. Patten punted the ball 59 times for 43.0 average and long of 58 yards. Thirteen of his punts landed inside the opponent's 20-yard line.
The teams, selected in balloting by North Region sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 183 nominations by Division III member schools. A total of 76 players were chosen.
Under the direction of Head Coach Dominic Livedoti, Olivet posted a 6-1 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) record to win its first conference title since 1974. The Comets also earned the MIAA's automatic bid to the NCAA Playoffs where they lost to Central (Iowa) College, 38-17, in the first round.
