Thornton named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week

Olivet College senior defensive back Jared Thornton (Colon) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Defensive Player of the Week in football.

In a 45-20 loss Nov. 14 at Adrian College, Thornton returned an interception 96 yards for Olivet's first touchdown. He also made 12 total tackles, including seven solo stops, recovered a fumble and had one tackle for loss. For the season, Thornton was second on the team with 78 tackles, including a team-high 52 solo stops. He also led the team with four interceptions.
