Baker named assistant football coach at Olivet College
Olivet College Head Football Coach Dan Pifer has announced the appointment of Tim Baker as an assistant football coach.
OLIVET, Mich. -- Olivet College Head Football Coach Dan Pifer has announced the appointment of Tim Baker as an assistant football coach.
Baker comes to Olivet after a successful coaching career at Constantine High School. He was on the football coaching staff for 31 years, including the last 15 years as the head coach. During his tenure as head coach, the Falcons posted a 129-30 record. Baker led Constantine to the 2004 Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) championship, and two other appearances in the MHSAA championship game (in 1994 and 2002). The Falcons won the St. Joseph's Valley (SJV) conference championship eight times, and Baker was named the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association Regional Coach of the Year seven times.
In addition to his football duties, Baker served as the head boys' track coach for 27 years. He compiled a 225-25 dual meet record and the was MHSAA runner-up in 1989 and captured the SJV championship 15 times. Baker has also been a licensed basketball official for 28 years.
"I am excited about Tim joining our football staff," said Pifer. "He brings a lot of coaching experience to the team. But the most important thing he brings is his connection to Olivet as an alumnus."
Baker earned a bachelor's degree in physical education from Olivet in 1977. A four-year letterwinner on the football field for the Comets, he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 1997.
Baker is married to Christine, and they have three children (Austin, Aaron and Andria).
