Roose named MIAA Athlete of the Week

FREELAND, Mich. – Junior Samuel Roose has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Athlete of the Week for his performance in the football team's 79-6 win over Finlandia University. He is being honored as the Special Teams Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.

Roose was a perfect 11-of-11 on point-after-touchdown (PAT) kicks and averaged 57.3 yards on 12 kickoffs. The 11 PAT kicks broke the Olivet single-game record.

Roose finished the season by making 51-of-52 PAT kicks to break the single-season record for made PAT kicks. In addition, he made 34 straight to end the season.

The Comets posted a 7-3 overall record in 2021.
