Olivet College’s Wright tabbed MIAA Offensive Player of the Week
HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Olivet College freshman Dontal Wright has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Offensive Player of the Week for his breakout game in the Comets’ 54-14 win over Eureka (Ill.) College.
HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Olivet College freshman Dontal Wright has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Offensive Player of the Week for his breakout game in the Comets' 54-14 win over Eureka (Ill.) College.
Wright had five carries for 197 yards and three touchdowns, covering 45, 54 and 84 yards. He also caught one pass for 18 yards and returned the opening kickoff 28 yards to give him 243 all-purpose yards (a 34.7 average per touch). The 84-yard rush from scrimmage is the seventh-longest by an NCAA Division III football this season, as well as the sixth-longest in Olivet history.
The Comets (2-0) travel to play Hanover (Ind.) College Saturday. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m. The game is a part of a challenge between the seven MIAA and Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference schools.
