Football: Berkompas named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Junior linebacker Austin Berkompas from The University of Olivet has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Defensive Player of the Week.

Berkompas led the Comet defense during its 35-32 win over Franklin (Ind.) College on September 2 in its season-opener. He finished the game with 12 total tackles, including nine solo stops. Berkompas also intercepted two passes and broke up another pass.

Olivet is back in action Saturday when it travels to play the College of Wooster (Ohio). The Comets' home-opener is September 16 when Hanover (Ind.) College visits the Cutler Athletic Complex. Kick-off for both games is 1 p.m.
