UOlivet ends season with 63-6 loss at Hope

HOLLAND, Mich. – The University of Olivet football team closed out the 2025 season with a 63-6 loss to Hope College today at Ray & Sue Smith Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Flying Dutchmen scored a 28-yard passing touchdown on their first play from scrimmage. Hope added another touchdown on a 50-yard rush in the final minute of the period to take a 14-0 lead. The Flying Dutchmen stretched their lead to 21-0 with a 4-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter.
- The Comets used a flea flicker – Church Mansica to Caleb Rudd – for a 43-yard touchdown at the 11:11 mark of the second stanza. The PAT kick was blocked to make the score 21-6.
- Hope answered with an 8-yard touchdown run. The Flying Dutchmen's next possession ended when Aaren McCray intercepted a pass. Hope responded with its own pick. The Flying Dutchmen needed only four plays, capped by a 45-yard touchdown pass, to lead 35-6 at halftime.
- Hope scored four rushing touchdowns from 13, 14, 16 and 6 yards out in the second half to post the 63-6 win.
FOR THE COMETS
- Olivet finished the game with 14 first downs and totaled 259 yards of offense.
- Senior Charlie Grant threw for 155 yards on 16-of-31 passing.
- Freshman Herbert Crawford caught five passes for 67 yards.
- Freshman Wade Brashears had six receptions for 58 yards.
- Freshmen Bacari Fields and Javon Peterson each recorded seven tackles to lead the defense.
