Men's basketball team drops 56-42 decision at Kalamazoo

The Olivet College men's basketball team dropped a 56-42 decision to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Kalamazoo College this afternoon at the Anderson Athletic Center in Kalamazoo.
After leading 15-10 at halftime, the Hornets (6-11, 3-3 MIAA) outscored the Comets (5-12, 1-5 MIAA) by nine points, 41-32. Kalamazoo stretched its lead to double figures, 33-22, with 10:14 left in regulation. Olivet closed to within seven points, 45-38, with just under four minutes remaining when senior De'Andre Clement (Saginaw) made a free throw to complete a three-point play. The Hornets sank eight free throws and a three-pointer to push their lead back to double digits in the final 2:33.
Senior Gerald Dozie (Detroit/Southeastern) topped the Comets with 15 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore Jeff Cooper (Dowagiac) added 10 points.
Kyle Konwinski tallied a team-high 16 points, including eight-of-eight free throws, for Kalamazoo. Pat Clancy and Phil Weaver chipped in with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Olivet hosts MIAA rival Albion College Wednesday, Jan. 25. Tip-off at the Upton Center is 7:30 p.m.
