The Olivet College men's basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 75-65 win over Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Alma College, 75-65, today at the Upton Center in Olivet.
In the first half, the Comets (6-13, 2-6 MIAA) led by as many as 12 points twice with the last time being 26-14 with 10:26 left. Over the next six minutes, the Scots (7-12, 1-7 MIAA) went on a 14-2 run to tie the game at 28-28. They eventually took a six-point lead and hung on for a 38-35 lead at halftime.
Neither team led by more than four points in the first 10:57 of the second half. Following a 52-52 tie, Olivet took the lead for good run with a 9-0 run. The Comets' biggest lead was 13 points in the closing seconds of the game.
Senior Gerald Dozie (Detroit/Southeastern) led Olivet with a game-high 23 points. He also tied his career high with 18 rebounds. Senior De'Andre Clement (Saginaw) contributed a career-high 20 points and four assists in 27 minutes. Senior Greg Ravy (New Orleans, La./L.B. Landry) added 14 points.
Alma was led by Mike Murphy, who scored 16 points. Cory Massey had 13 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Carl Hill came off the bench to score 12 points.
The Comets are back in action Wednesday, Feb. 12, when they play at Hope College. Tip-off from the DeVos Fieldhouse is 8 p.m.
