Olivet College’s McClary named MIAA Co-Player of the Week

Olivet College freshman center Michael McClary (Bellaire) has been the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Co-Player of the Week for men's basketball. He shares the honor with Hope senior forward Ryan Klein.
McClary was named to the all-tournament team, as the Comets split their two games at the Wittenberg Charles B. Zimmerman Memorial Classic Dec. 28-29. In a 71-58 loss to the host Tigers, McClary posted a double-double, 14 points and 13 rebounds. He followed that performance with 14 points and nine rebounds in a 65-58 win against Marian (Ind.) College. For the tournament, he made 14-of-22 baskets for his 28 points. In addition, McClary blocked five shots and committed only one turnover in 59 minutes of action.
For the season, McClary leads Olivet in scoring (11.9 ppg) and rebounding (9.6 rpg). He has logged 232 minutes of playing time and is shooting 55.7 percent (49-of-88) from the floor. In addition, McClary has made only four turnovers and blocked 18 shots.
McClary and the Comets (3-6) are back in action Monday, Jan. 7, when they host Anderson (Ind.) University. Tip-off from the Upton Center in Olivet is 7 p.m. Olivet will open MIAA play Wednesday, Jan. 9, when it travels to play Adrian College at 7:30 p.m.
