McClary earns All-Region first-team honors
Michael McClary has earned 2011 All-Great Lakes Region first-team honors from D3hoops.com and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). In addition, he is the NABC Great Lakes Region Player of the Year.
Olivet College senior men's basketball player Michael McClary (Bellaire) has earned 2011 All-Great Lakes Region first-team honors from D3hoops.com and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). In addition, he is the NABC Great Lakes Region Player of the Year and is a candidate for the NABC Division III Player of the Year.
McClary is now eligible for All-America honors from both entities, which will be announced Saturday, March 19.
McClary broke Olivet's single-season scoring record with 676 points, averaging 26.0 ppg, and also led the Comets rebounding (10.1 rpg). He reached double figures in the scoring column in all 26 games and posted 12 double-doubles, including nine games with more than 30 points. For the second straight season, McClary was named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's Most Valuable Player and earned first-team All-MIAA honors.
The other members of the D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region first-team are guard Ian Franks from College of Wooster (Ohio), guard Trevor Halter from Marietta (Ohio) College, guard Chris Sullivan from Wittenberg (Ohio) University and forward Wes Smith from Wabash (Ind.) College. Also on the NABC All-Great Lakes Region first-team are Franks, Halter, Will Bowser from Hope College, Blair Rozenblad from Thiel (Pa.) College and Chris Saltzman from Penn State Erie, The Behrend College (Pa.).
