Olivet College’s Ashley named MIAA Player of the Week for men’s basketball

OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College junior Alvino Ashley (Detroit/Martin Luther King) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week for men's basketball.

Ashley scored a team-high 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Comets' 105-07 win over Finlandia University Dec. 20 at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet. He also dished out six assists and blocked five shots. Ashley made 10-of-17 baskets and 6-of-7 free throws for his 26 points.

Olivet is back in action this Thursday and Friday, Dec. 29-30, at the Charles B. Zimmerman Memorial Classic at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. The Comets will play Marian (Ind.) University in a first round game Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The consolation and championship games are set for Friday at 2:15 and 7 p.m., respectively.
