OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's basketball team fell to Trine (Ind.) University, 85-50, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) game tonight at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet.
Freshman Marquis Childers (Muskegon Heights) led the Comets with 14 points and three assists. Junior Alvino Ashley (Detroit/MLK) and freshman Paul Lombard (New Era/Montague) each had 12. Lombard and junior Dakotah Ellis (Birch Run) grabbed six rebounds apiece.
The Thunder were led by the tandem of Scott Rogers, Tim Pearcy and Ian Jackson, who scored 18, 15 and 13 points, respectively. Chris Kent had team-highs in assists (nine), rebounds (seven) and steals (four).
The Comets (3-13, 1-4 MIAA) will next be in action Saturday at MIAA leader Hope College. Tip-off at the DeVos Fieldhouse in Holland is 7:30 p.m.
