Olivet College’s Krum earns second-team All-MIAA honors

OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College junior guard Blake Krum (Schoolcraft) has been named to the 2013-14 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) second-team for men's basketball. All-league honors are based on a player's statistics during the 14-game MIAA schedule. He was also a 2012-13 All-MIAA second-team selection.

Krum played in 13-of-14 league games for the Comets and ranked sixth in the MIAA in scoring at 15.5 points per game (ppg). He also ranked in the top 10 in steals per game (second, 1.38), total steals (third, 18), minutes per game (third, 34.15), free throw percentage (fifth, .830), assists per game (sixth, 2.85), total assists (sixth, 37) and rebounding (10th, 5.4). Krum reached double figures in the scoring column in 11 games, with a single-game high 29 points in the first MIAA game at Adrian College Jan. 9. He tallied his second collegiate double-double, 22 points and 11 rebounds, against Albion College Jan. 21.

"Blake has worked tremendously hard the two years I have been coach and has set a great example both on and off the court for all of our young players," said Olivet Head Coach Chris Coles. "He has earned a reputation around the MIAA from both players and coaches as being a hard worker. It is a well-deserved honor, being All-MIAA in back-to-back years and we are so happy to have him returning for his senior season next year."

For the entire 25-game schedule, Krum led the team in scoring (15.4 ppg), field goals made (123) and free throws made (86). He was also among the team leaders in field goal percentage (.402), free throw percentage (.835), three-pointers made (37), assists (53) and steals (38).
