Kretschman and Okello record double-doubles, UOlivet wins at Adrian, 78-64

ADRIAN, Mich. – Junior Porter Kretschman and sophomore Mike Okello each posted a double-double, and The University of Olivet men's basketball team cruised to a 78-64 win over Adrian College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) game tonight at the Merillat Sport & Fitness Center.

FOR THE COMETS
- Olivet posted a 46.2 field goal percentage (30-of-65) compared to 35.5 percent (22-of-62) for Adrian. The Bulldogs made two more three-pointers, but each team made 11 free throws. The Comets outrebounded the Bulldogs, 45-22, including 31-15 on the defensive end.
- Kretschman made 6-of-10 baskets and 7-of-9 free throws for 19 points and grabbed 17 rebounds.
- Okello's first double-double in an UOlivet uniform consisted of 10 points and 10 rebounds.
- Junior Nathan Richardson joined him in double figures with 16 points. He also had four steals.
- Freshman Sean Shenker drained four shots from behind the arc for 12 points.
- Sophomore Sam Howard dished out four assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Comets jumped out to a quick 12-point advantage, 16-4, at the 13:43 mark. The Bulldogs answered with a 10-3 run to trim their deficit down five points with 11:02 remaining in the first half. The Comets went on a 5-0 run before Adrian went on an 8-0 run to close the gap to two points.
- Kretschman stopped the momentum with a three-point play to put Olivet back on top by five points, 27-22, at the under eight media timeout. The Bulldogs used a 7-1 run to take the lead for the first time since the first minute of the game. The Comets scored four of the next six points. Two Adrian free throws made the score 34-33 at halftime.
- Shortly into the second half, Adrian tied the score at 36-36. Olivet then used an 8-2 run to go up 44-38. The Bulldogs cut their deficit down to four points before a quick 4-0 run for the Comets doubled their lead. The teams traded shots from behind the arc to keep the differential at eight points, 51-43, with 11:49 left in the game.
- Over the next seven minutes, Olivet strung together a 17-4 run for a 21-point lead, 68-47. Adrian got the gap down to 18 points before the Comets took their largest lead of the game, 74-52, with 3:09 left.
