Men’s golf team is sixth at MIAA Jamboree #3
The Olivet College men’s golf team placed sixth at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #3 today on its home course, the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek. With the finish, the Comets climb into sixth-place in the overall MIAA standings.
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Olivet College men's golf team placed sixth at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #3 today on its home course, the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek. With the finish, the Comets climb into sixth-place in the overall MIAA standings.
Olivet posted a 319 team score. Hope College took first-place at 301, followed by Calvin, 309; Adrian, 310; Kalamazoo, 314; and Trine, 315. Alma was seventh at 326 and Albion was eighth at 330.
Senior Nick Julian (Clinton Twp./Clintondale) finished in a tie for seventh-place in the individual player standings with a 77. He carded a 37 on the front nine and 40 on the back nine. Sophomore Benjamin Hart (Rockford/Lowell) had his best round of the season with a 79. Freshman Matt Sherry (Salem Township/South Lyon East) was one stroke behind at 80.
Freshman Daniel Buehler (Delton/Hastings) completed his round in 83. Senior Chris Watkins (Bangor) recorded an 89.
Hope moves into first-place standings with a three-round total of 926 strokes. Calvin and Adrian are tied for second with 931s. Trine is fourth at 939, followed by Kalamazoo, 950; and Olivet, 962. Albion and Alma are tied for seventh at 967.
The next league jamboree is Saturday at the Pine River Country Club in Alma. The outing has a 10 a.m. shotgun start.
