Two soccer players named MIAA Defensive Players of the Week
Olivet College juniors Samantha Dyke (Hudsonville High School) and Alex Lundy (Kewadin/Elk Rapids High School) have been named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Defensive Player of the Week for women’s and men’s soccer, respectively.
Olivet College juniors Samantha Dyke (Hudsonville High School) and Alex Lundy (Kewadin/Elk Rapids High School) have been named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Defensive Player of the Week for women's and men's soccer, respectively.
Dyke was a part of a Lady Comet defense which shutout both its opponents to open the 2004 season. Olivet won 5-0 over Concordia (Ill.) University on Sept. 3, and 3-0 over Dominican (Ill.) University on Sept. 5. The defense allowed the two teams a total of seven shots on goal.
Lundy led the Comets' defense in a pair of season-opening games at the Manchester (Ind.) College Tournament on Sept. 3-4. Olivet beat Manchester, 4-3 and tied Moody Bible (Ill.) Institute, 1-1.
The Lady Comets are next in action on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 11-12 when they co-host a tournament with Albion College. Olivet will play Manchester on Saturday at Albion at 2 p.m., and Otterbein (Ohio) College on Sunday at Olivet at 3 p.m.
The men will travel to Ada, Ohio, on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 10-11, to participate in the Ohio Northern University Adidas Classic. The Comets will play Transylvania (Ky.) University on Friday at 3 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. game on Saturday against Defiance (Ohio) College.
