Men’s soccer team falls to Hope, 2-1

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's soccer team fell to Hope College, 2-1, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) game this evening at the Olivet Community Schools Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Flying Dutchmen took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute.
  • The Comets evened the score in the 21st minute. On a long throw-in by senior Vince Geremia, freshman Joshua Rosendale headed the ball into the game at the far post.
  • The score stayed 1-1 at halftime.
  • Hope scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 60th minute. Off a corner kick, the ball was knocked into the goal.

FOR THE COMETS

  • Olivet finished the game with just four shots, including two for Rosendale.
  • Freshman Brendan Morse played the whole game in goal and made five saves.

FOR THE FLYING DUTCHMEN

  • Steve Binnig and Christian Dault netted the goals.
  • Dalton Bruso and David White recorded four shots apiece.
  • Stephen Wilbur earned the win in goal.
