Men's swimming and diving finishes in sixth-place at Wabash Invitational
The Olivet College men's swimming and diving team finished in sixth-place (out of nine teams) today at the Wabash (Ind.) Invitational in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
The Olivet College men's swimming and diving team finished in sixth-place (out of nine teams) today at the Wabash (Ind.) Invitational in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
The Fighting Comets tallied 233 points. Kenyon (Ohio) College outdistanced second-place Wheaton by 236 points to win the team title.
Olivet had no individual winners; however, it was a record-setting day. Of the 14 events that at least one Comet competed in, the top Comet swimmer/diver set a school record in the event.
Leading the way was Ananta Fetters (Fennville/Holland High School), who broke three school records: 100 butterfly (55.72), 200 fly (2:10.39) and 200 individual medley (2:09.74).
Juan Aguirre (Queretaro, Mexico) set school records in the 50 freestyle (22.99) and 100 free (49.97). Jon Cox (Battle Creek/Lakeview High School) broke the record in the 200 breaststroke (2:24.59) and Darren Hamen (Boksburg, South Africa) set a record in 400 IM (4:50.22).
Levi Yockey (Phoenix, Ariz./North High School) had record-setting performances in the 200 free (1:50.24) and 500 free (4:59.05).
Diver Andy Weiss (Fremont High School) broke the school record in the one- and three-meter dives with scores of 249.80 and 274.55, respectively.
Aguirre, Cox, Fetters along with Paul Riha (East Grand Rapids High School) set the school record in 200 medley relay (1:42.21). Aguirre, Riha and Yockey teamed with Matt Powers (Kalamazoo Central High School) to break the record in the 200 free relay (1:31.86).
Olivet is idle until Saturday, Dec. 13, when it travels to Ada, Ohio for a non-conference dual meet against Ohio Northern University.
