Men's swimming and diving team finishes in fifth-place at Wabash (Ind.) Invitational
The men’s swimming and diving team finished in fifth-place (out of eight teams) today at the annual Wabash (Ind.) College Invitational. The Fighting Comets had 356 team points and were only two points behind DePauw (Ind.) University, who had 356.

Olivet recorded 12 top-five finishes, including two first-place finishes. Freshman Brian Jaffee (Bowling Green, Ohio) was first in the 500 free with a school-record time of 4:51.07. Freshman Andy Weiss (Fremont) won the three-meter diving competition with 227.25 points.
Jaffee broke the school record with a third-place finish in the 1,650 freestyle (16:58.92) and seventh in the 200 free (1:51.16). With a second-place finish in the 200 butterfly, sophomore Ananta Fetters (Fennville/Holland) set a school record (2:03.22). He was second in the 100 fly (54.16).
Freshman Dustin Meisner (Temperance/Erie Mason) claimed second-place in the 100 breaststroke in school-record time of 1:00.57. He was third in the 200 breast (2:14.92).
Also finishing in third-place was Weiss in the one-meter dive (199.85). Junior Steve Dastoli (Kalamazoo/Central) was second in the three-meter dive (224.50) and fourth in the one-meter dive (194.95).
The 800 free relay team of Jaffee and sophomores Juan Aguirre (Queretaro, Mexico), John Johnson (Grand Blanc) and Levi Yockey (Phoenix, Ariz./North) broke the school record and finished third in 7:22.56. Aguirre, Fetters, Yockey and sophomore Paul Riha (East Grand Rapids) teamed up for a fifth-place finish in the 200 free relay (1:31.25).
The Comets are idle until Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, when they compete at University of Chicago (Ill.).
