Women’s track/field team splits MIAA double dual
The women’s track/field team split a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) double dual meet at Adrian College today. The Lady Comets beat Tri-State (Ind.) University, 105-53, but fell to Adrian, 98-85.

Leading the way for the Lady Comets was sophomore Kristy Zenner (Kingsley), who claimed second-place in four different field events. Her second-place finishes were in the high jump (4’4”), discus throw (112’0”), javelin (71’7”) and shot put (34’1”).
In addition, Olivet gained five first-place finishes, including two by freshman Hannah Robbins (Marshall). She won the 100- and 400-meter hurdles (:18.87 and 1:17.26, respectively). Sophomore Gina Hilgendorf (Capac) took first over Zenner in the javelin (75’2”).
The other first-place finishes were in the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays. Robbins, Amy Brackenwagen (Grand Ledge), Donna Cripe (Vermontville/Maple Valley) and Essence Porter (Battle Creek Central) finished the 4x100 in 56.60 seconds. Cripe, Porter, Robbins and Ann Marie Keisic (Sterling Heights/Warren Cousino) won the 4x400 in 4:41.96.
Cripe also had a pair of second-place finishes, 100-meter dash (:14.26) and 200-meter dash (:30.03). Brackenwagen was second in the long jump (13’9”). Katie Hartwick (Dundee/Ida) was second behind Robbins in the 100-meter hurdles. Junior Rachel Strelecki (Sterling/Standish-Sterling) placed second in the 5000-meter run (22:36.35).
Olivet travels to Hillsdale College April 29-30 to participate in the annual “Gina” Relays. The 2005 MIAA Championships will take place May 5-6 at Hope College.
