Track and field teams host 2010 MIAA Jamboree
The Olivet College track and field teams hosted the 2010 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree today at the Cutler Athletic Complex and Kolassa Track. The meet was the first-ever on the Kolassa Track and the first track and field at Olivet in many years.

Highlighting the women's meet was Sarah Caldwell (Bronson), who won the 400-meter dash (:59.81) and was third in the 200-meter dash (:27.13). She also teamed with Brittany Marshall (Canton, Ga./Woodstock), Ellen Schulz (Freeland) and Olivia Yarrell (Lansing/Sexton) to break the school record in the 4x400-meter relay (4:25.03). Schulz placed eighth in the 400-meter dash (1:03.94). Heather Nicklaw (Springport) tied for the third-best performance in the high jump. She cleared the bar at 1.52 meters (4'11¾").
The Olivet men had their most success in the 100-meter dash. James Williams (Battle Creek/Central) finished in fourth-place (:11.18), followed by Edric Miller (Battle Creek/Central) in 12th-place (:11.35) and Pat Clasgens (Livonia/Stevenson) in 13th-place (:11.39). All three times were season-bests. Justin Walters (Clarksville/Lakewood) placed sixth in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.78 meters (5'10"). Also in the field events, Jesse Rodriguez (Ligonier, Ind./West Noble) broke the school record in the hammer throw with a 32.53 meter (106'9") toss.
The Comets will compete at the Aquinas Invitational next Saturday.
