Men's track and field team completes first day at 2011 MIAA Field Day
The men's track and field team failed to score any points in the first day of competition at the 2011 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Field Day.
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's track and field team failed to score any points in the first day of competition at the 2011 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Field Day. Today's competition featured finals in five events and preliminaries in the short distance running events. The two-day event concludes tomorrow on the Kolassa Track and inside the Cutler Athletic Complex, with field events starting at 10 a.m. and running event finals at 1:30 p.m.
The best finishers in today's field events were turned in by brothers Dillon Norton (Carson City/Crystal) and Dustin Norton (Carson City/Crystal). Dillon was 13th in the javelin throw with a 137 feet, 9 inch throw, while Dustin was 13th in the shot put with a 40 feet, 1/2 inch throw.
Four men have advanced to the finals in the running events. Jesse Holmes (Springport) turned in the second fastest prelim time in the 400-meter dash at 50.52 seconds. Joe Camble (Lansing/Waverly) and James Williams (Battle Creek/Central) were sixth (11.33) and eighth (11.40), respectively in the 100-meter dash. Arthur Williams (Lansing/Holt) had the fifth fastest time in the 400-meter hurdles at 57.35 seconds.
