Men’s track and field team places seventh at MIAA Jamboree
The Olivet College men’s track and field team placed seventh at the 2012 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree at Albion College’s Elkin Isaac Track. The Comets scored 276 total points. Hope College took first-place.
ADRIAN, Mich. – The Olivet College men's track and field team placed seventh at the 2012 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree at Albion College's Elkin Isaac Track. The Comets scored 276 total points. Hope College took first-place.
Senior Trevor Tyler (Roscommon) and freshman Jalen Weaver (Albion) turned in Olivet's top performances on the track. Tyler was second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.56 seconds, while Weaver finished second in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.34.
Freshman Henry Pettway (East Lansing) placed third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.38 seconds. Tyler, Pettway, freshman Billyle Alman (Lansing/Okemos) and senior James Williams (Battle Creek/Central) ran to a third-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay, and their time was 43.19 seconds. Alman, Tyler, Weaver and freshman Kyle Grimes (Concord) crossed the line fourth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:24.97.
Senior Lee Cline (Mt. Morris) posted Olivet's only top-five performance in the field events. He finished third in the javelin with a 152 foot throw.
The Comets will compete at the Grand Valley State University Al Owens Classic next Saturday, April 21.
