Track and field teams participate in third day of “GINA” Relays

HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's track and field teams participated today in third and final day of the Hillsdale College "GINA" Relays.

Senior Trevor Tyler (Roscommon) finished in fourth-place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.05 seconds. In the field events, senior Lee Cline (Mt. Morris) placed sixth in the javelin throw with a 147 foot toss. Sophomore Dillon Norton (Carson City/Crystal) was eighth in the discus with a 120 foot, 10 inch throw.

The top finishes for the women were in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays, as both finished in sixth. The 4x400 team of sophomores Heather Lauwers (Ortonville/Brandon), Jenna Mayle (Ionia) and Rachael Wagner (Clinton Twp./Fraser), and freshman Brandi Rimmer Flint/Carman Ainsworth) finished in a season-best time of 4:13.87.

Olivet will now prepare for the 2012 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Field Day next Thursday and Friday, May 3-4. Calvin College is the host school.
