Indoor track and field teams compete at Hillsdale Wide Track Classic
The Olivet College indoor track and field teams competed at the two-day Hillsdale College Wide Track Classic inside the Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center in Hillsdale.
HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Olivet College indoor track and field teams competed at the two-day Hillsdale College Wide Track Classic inside the Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center in Hillsdale.
For the men, junior Greg Lutzke (Williamston) was the top finisher, as he placed second in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 15:37.96. Junior Jalen Weaver (Albion) ran in the championship heat of the 800-meter run and finished in fifth-place with a time of 1:55.67. Freshman Blake Wilson (Battle Creek/Lakeview) was ninth in the mile run with a time of 4:37.04.
For the women, junior Cassie Ciaravino (Lapeer/East) placed fifth in the pentathlon, scoring 2,908 points. Senior Jenna Mayle (Ionia) was fifth and broke the school indoor record in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:28.20. Despite an 11th-place finish in the shot put, senior Sara Wegener (Lansing/Lansing Catholic) had a season-best mark of 11.68 meters/38 feet, 4 inches.
Olivet will travel to Ohio to participate in the Defiance (Ohio) College Open next Friday, Feb. 14, at 4 p.m.
