Ten Olivet College track & field athletes selected to participate in 2021 Division III Elite Championships
OLIVET, Mich. – Ten Olivet College track and field student-athletes will participate in the 2021 Division III Elite Indoor Championships Friday and Saturday, March 12-13, at Hoover Fieldhouse in Waverly, Iowa.
OLIVET, Mich. – Ten Olivet College track and field student-athletes will participate in the 2021 Division III Elite Indoor Championships Friday and Saturday, March 12-13, at Hoover Fieldhouse in Waverly, Iowa.
Representing the Comets will be junior Lillian Albaugh, sophomore Jordon Brown, sophomore Jordon Butler, freshman Hayden Germain, junior Kyle McDowell, sophomore Chase Mendham, senior Tyler Peck, sophomore William Reed, junior Dustin Rutter and senior Jacob Smith.
Albaugh will compete in the shot put Saturday at 12:30 p.m. CT. In the field of 16 entrants, she has the fourth-best seed mark at 43 feet, 7-1/4 inches. Smith will also participate in the shot put Saturday morning at 10 a.m. CT. Among 14 entries, he has the second-best seed mark at 53 feet, 8-1/2 inches.
Butler is entered in the long jump, which will be held Saturday at 12:30 p.m. CT. He is tied for the second-best seed mark at 22 feet, 9-3/4 inches.
McDowell and Brown will run in the 400-meter dash Friday afternoon at 3:25 p.m. McDowell is seeded fifth at 49.57 and is in the third of four heats. Brown is seeded sixth at 49.90 second and is in the second heat.
Mendham, Peck, Rutter and Germain will compete in the distance medley relay Friday night at 6 p.m. Of the 11 relays entered, they have the eighth-seed at 10:41.75.
Reed, Peck, Brown and McDowell will run in the 4x400-meter relay Saturday afternoon at 1:40 p.m. Their seed time, 3:23.79, is fifth-fastest of 11 relays. They will run in the second of three heats.
Upon cancellation of the 2021 NCAA Division III winter championships, Wartburg College organized this track and field meet to bring together some of the top student-athletes to compete in a championships experience. The field for each event was filled in rank order, according to the Division III Performance List on TFRRS.org. Individual, relay and team awards will be presented.
