Brown voted MIAA Most Valuable Indoor Track Athlete for second straight year
HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – The University of Olivet senior Jordon Brown has been voted the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Most Valuable Indoor Track Athlete for the 2024 season. He is now a two-time honoree for this award.
Brown captured the MIAA titles in the 200- and 400-meter dashes. His winning time of 21.74 seconds in the 200 broke the school and MIAA records. Brown clocked-in at 48.79 seconds in the 400. Also, he was first in the long jump with a winning leap of 22 feet, 7-1/4 inches.
"The Most Valuable Track Athlete from the MIAA Championship is special and to earn this two indoors seasons in a row is quite an honor for Jordon," said Olivet head coach Karen Lutzke. "He continues to make improvements on and off the track which has allowed him to practice and race better every meet. Assistant Coach Darroll Gatson and Jordon have figured out what best works for him, and it shows when he steps on the track."
Brown is a four-time All-MIAA Indoor and three-time All-MIAA Outdoor selection. He has won the 200- and 400-meter dashes at the last three MIAA track championships – 2023 and 2024 indoors, and 2023 outdoors to earn MIAA Most Valuable Track Athlete honors.
Brown holds the school indoor record in the 60-meter dash (6.90), 200-meter (21.74) and 400-meter (47.73). He also ran legs on the school indoor 4x400- and 4x800-meter relays. Outdoors, Brown is the school-record holder in the 200- and 400-meter dashes, and part of the 4x100- and 4x800-meter relays.
