Track & Field: Olivet participates in Augustana Twilight Meet
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Four members of The University of Olivet men's track & field team competed in the Augustana (Ill.) College Twilight Meet.
Freshman Owen Fremeau had the best performance for the Comets, as he shattered his own school record in the discus throw. His 162 feet and 6-inch mark broke the previous record by six feet and eight inches. The mark placed him fifth of 37 throwers in the event.
Senior Jordon Brown finished first of 34 runners in the 400-meter dash (47.55) and second of 76 runners in the 200-meter dash (21.47). His season-best times of 21.02 in the 200 and 47.19 seconds currently sit 12th and 15th respectively on the NCAA Division III Performance List.
Freshman DeVondre Chandler recorded a 6 foot, 6-3/4 inch mark in the high jump. His school record and season-best mark of 6 feet, 8-1/4 inches is currently tied for 24th on the NCAA DIII Performance list with 6 feet, 8-1/4 inch clearance.
Last night, senior Chris Davis ran in the 1,500-meter run, and completed the run in 4:05.78.
The 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships are next Thursday-Saturday, May 23-25 at the Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The official list of participants for the championships will be posted by 8 p.m. tomorrow night on the NCAA website (ncaa.com).
