Chandler and Fremeau lead UOlivet men to fifth-place finish at MIAA Championships

ANGOLA, Ind. – Led by sophomores DeVondre Chandler and Owen Fremeau, The University of Olivet men's indoor track & field team finished fifth at the 2025 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championship, held today inside the Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic and Recreation Center.
FOR THE COMETS
- Chandler captured the MIAA title in the high jump with a 6 feet, 8-1/4 inch clearance. He is now a three-time conference high jump champion – 2024 indoors and outdoors, and 2025 indoors.
- Fremeau won the shot put and weight throw with MIAA and UOlivet record performances. His winning mark in the shot put, 55 feet and 7-1/2 inches, currently sits No. 8 on the NCAA Division III performance list, while the winning mark in the weight throw, 61 feet and 11-1/2 inches, is No. 10 on the list.
- Also in the shot put, sophomore Austin Cole was fifth (45 feet, 7-1/4 inches), and freshman Yrral Campbell finished eighth (42 feet, 5-1/2 inches).
- Senior Kameron Newman placed fourth in the long jump (22 feet, 4-1/4 inches).
- Sophomore Peter Moore finished sixth in the long jump (21 feet, 2-1/2 inches) and eighth in the triple jump (40 feet, 9-1/2 inches).
- Sophomore Kyle Redd clocked-in with the eighth-fastest time in the 200-meter dash (23.03).
- The distance medley relay team of junior Anthony DeVito, sophomore Luke Leighton, senior Kayden Shrock and freshman Brenden Castillo were fourth (11:14.20).
- The 4x400-meter relay quartet of Redd, Leighton, Shrock and Moore placed seventh (3:33.25).
