Fremeau wins third throwing event, UOlivet men finish fifth at MIAA Field Day

ALMA, Mich. – Sophomore Owen Fremeau won his third throwing event, as The University of Olivet men's track and field team placed fifth at the 2025 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Field Day. Alma College hosted the championships at Bahlke Field.
FOR THE COMETS
- The Comets totaled 68 points. Trine (Ind.) University edged Calvin University by five points, 210 to 205, to win the MIAA title. Hope College was third with 171 points, followed by Albion College with 104. Finishing behind Olivet were Adrian College (35) and Alma College (20).
- Today, Fremeau captured the league title in the discus throw with a 157 feet, 4 inch toss. He is the first male student-athlete in UOlivet history to win three individual events at the MIAA Field Day.
- Freshman Yrral Campbell finished third in the discus throw with a 147 feet, 3 inch mark.
- On the track, sophomore Kyle Redd placed third in the 400-meter dash (48.88) and fifth in the 200-meter dash (22.16). Both times were personal bests, and the 400 time moved him up to No. 5 all-time at UOlivet.
- Sophomore Peter Moore was seventh in the triple jump (40 feet, 9 inches).
- Sophomore Luke Leighton clocked-in with the eighth-fastest time in the 400-meter hurdles (57.55).
- Both Comet relays were fourth with season-best times. The 4x100 team consisted of Leighton, Moore, Redd and freshman Hunter Wilson, and their time was 43.44 seconds. The 4x400 quartet was Leighton, Redd, Moore and senior Kayden Shrock, and their time was 3:24.81.
