FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The University of Olivet junior Owen Fremeau has been voted the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
A native of Jackson and graduate of Western High School, Fremeau competed in the shot put and weight throw at the Saginaw Valley State University Holiday Open. He finished fourth in the shot put (15.87 meters / 52 feet, 1 inch) and fifth in the weight throw (17.98 meters / 59 feet). Fremeau was the top finisher among the NCAA Division III student-athletes. The marks put him No. 7 in the weight throw and No. 12 in the shot put on the NCAA Division III Performance list.
"We are excited about where Owen is at this point in the season," said Olivet head coach Karen Lutzke. "We are expecting to see him continue improving and work towards earning All-American honors once again this year."
