Fremeau named MIAA Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The University of Olivet junior Owen Fremeau has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Indoor Field Athlete of the Week. He is earning this honor for a second time this season.
Fremeau broke the UOlivet indoor shot put record with a mark of 56 feet, 2 inches at the Hillsdale Wide Track Classic. The performance gave him second-place in the event and moved him up to third on the NCAA Division III Performance list. He also placed fourth overall (first among DIII competitors) in the weight throw with a heave of 57 feet, 3-1/2 inches. Fremeau, the defending MIAA indoor champion in both events, currently ranks No. 1 in the MIAA this season in them.
"Owen continues to improve each week as he makes adjustments with his throws," said Olivet head track and field coach Karen Lutzke. "He has been working hard at practice, and we are excited to see his continued progress for the rest of the indoor season this winter and into the outdoor season this spring."
The Comets return to competition on Friday and Saturday at the Saginaw Valley State University Jet's Pizza Invitational.
