Multiple personal-bests achieved for UOlivet at SVSU Jet’s Pizza Invitational

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The University of Olivet track and field teams posted several personal-best performances at the two-day Saginaw Valley State University Jet's Pizza Invitational on Friday and Saturday, January 30-31.
FRIDAY RESULTS
For the men, sophomore Alexander Brown finished sixth in the pole vault, clearing a height of 14 feet, 5-1/4 inches. Junior Owen Fremeau placed third in the weight throw with a season-best throw of 60 feet, 10 inches. The mark moves him up to No. 8 on the NCAA Division III Performance List.
Also, in the weight throw, freshmen Elijah Cottrell and Dom Monroe threw personal-bests with marks of 41 feet, 1-1/2 inches, and 37 feet, 2-1/4 inches, respectively, and junior Austin Cole posted a season-best mark of 41 feet, 1-3/4 inches.
On the track, freshmen Aiden Coggins and junior Luke Leighton ran personal-best times in the 60-meter dash at 7.21 and 7.48 seconds, respectively.
For the women, sophomore Kenzie Gray threw a personal-best mark of 42 feet, 11-3/4 inches in the weight throw. The mark moved her up to No. 8 on the UOlivet all-time Top 10 list. Junior Ellie Baynes ran a personal-best time of 11.30 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles.
SATURDAY RESULTS
For the men, freshmen Owen Lambarth and Emori Jones ran personal-best times in the mile at 4:48.94 and 4:53.91, respectively. Jones also posted a personal-best in the 800-meter with a time of 2:11.82. Junior Sam Bruinsma completed the 400-meter with a personal-best time of 57.74. Juniors Brenden Castillo and Deegan Bodell set personal-best times in the 3,000-meter run with times of 9:16.12 and 9:20.63, respectively.
Fremeau finished fifth in the shot put with a throw of 51 feet, 1/4 inches. Also, in the shot put, freshman Elijah Cottrell posted a personal best with a throw of 41 feet, 5-1/4 inches.
For the women, freshmen Avery Lopez and Cassie Bill ran personal bests in the mile with times of 6:11.13 and 6:32.64, respectively. Bill also achieved a personal best in the 800-meter with a time of 3:04.09. Juniors Aubrey Connelly and Taylor Facca posted season-best times of 1:05.16 and 1:17.46, respectively in the 400-meter run.
The Comets head to Mount Pleasant on Saturday, February 7, for the Central Michigan University Chippewa Invitational.
