UOlivet has successful day at CMU Chippewa Invitational

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The University of Olivet indoor track and field teams headed to Central Michigan University for the Chippewa Invitational on Saturday, February 7.
For the men, sophomore Alexander Brown broke his own UOlivet record in the pole vault, clearing a height of 15 feet, 7 inches. The performance also moves him up to No. 19 on the NCAA Division III Performance List. Freshman Aiden Coggins and junior Peter Moore finished first and second in the long jump. Moore jumped a season best mark (20 feet, 1-3/4 inches). Senior Charles Goldman set a new personal best in the long jump (19 feet, 11-1/2 inches).
Junior Owen Fremeau, sophomore Yrral Campbell, and junior Austin Cole finished first, third, and fourth in the shot put. Fremeau also achieved a first-place finish in the weight throw with a throw of 58 feet, 2 inches. Freshman Elijah Cottrell posted a personal best in the weight throw (43ft, 2-1/2 inches) to place him tied for No. 10 on the UOlivet all-time list. Cole threw a season-best in the weight throw (43 feet, 8-3/4 inches).
The distance medley relay group of junior Brenden Castillo, junior Joe Kadluboski, freshman Emori Jones and junior Deegan Bodell ran a season-best time of 11:20.43. Kadluboski also ran a personal best in the 800-meter run (2:12.64). Senior Braeden Jones ran a season best in the 800-meter run (2:25.89). Junior Luke Leighton and Moore completed the 200-meter dash in season-best times at 24.01 and 24.48 seconds, respectively. Coggins ran a personal best in the 60-meter dash (7.19 seconds). The 4x400-meter relay quartet of Coggins, sophomore Tye Kirschner, Leighton and senior Dontal Wright clocked-in with the fastest time (3:37.37).
For the women, sophomore Kenzie Gray was third and threw a personal best in the weight throw (43 feet, 8-1/2 inches) to move her into a tie for sixth on the UOlivet all-time Top 10 list. Junior Ellie Baynes set a personal in the shot put (27 feet, 3-1/4 inches) and 60-meter hurdles (11.22 seconds).
Freshman Cassie Bill ran a personal best in the mile (6:31.13) and 800-meter run (2:57.62). Freshmen Landry Gomez and Avery Lopez both posted personal bests in the 800-meter run at 2:38.32 and 2:48.70, respectively. Junior Taylor Facca had a season best in the 800-meter run (2:56.96).
The Comets will compete at two separate meets next Friday, February 13, with some of the team heading to Grand Valley State University for the Big Friday Meet and the rest of the team competing at the Aquinas College Indoor Invitational.
