Fremeau and Brown earn All-MIAA Indoor Track and Field honors
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The University of Olivet junior Owen Fremeau and sophomore Alexander Brown has been named to the 2026 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Indoor Track Field teams. Fremeau is an All-MIAA First Team selection and Brown is an All-MIAA Second Team pick.
"Both Owen and Alex are outstanding athletes," said Olivet head coach Karen Lutzke. "They put in the work every day to improve not only themselves but also to push their teammates."
Fremeau captured the MIAA title in the shot put (59 feet, 1/4 inch) and weight throw (63 feet), setting a MIAA championship record in both events. He repeated as MIAA champion in both events and overall, in his UOlivet career, he is a seven-time MIAA individual event champion. In addition, Fremeau is now a three-time All-MIAA First Team selection.
"Owen has accomplished so much already this season," stated Lutzke. "He continues to work hard to improve, regardless of how far he threw in the previous meet. We are looking forward to seeing what he can do at the national meet in a few weeks."
Brown finished second in the pole vault at the MIAA Championships. He cleared the bar at 14 feet, 7-1/2 inches.
"Alex had an awesome indoor season," Lutzke commented. "He was not 100% heading into the MIAA Championship meet but was determined to give his best effort. I am proud of him for still competing regardless of his injury and doing the best he could on that day."
