ALL-AMERICAN!! UOlivet’s Fremeau places fourth in shot put at NCAA Championships
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of Olivet junior Owen Fremeau placed fourth in the shot put at the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships today at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The performance earns his second All-America honor of thischampionships after he was third yesterday in the weight throw.
Fremeau opened the competition with the fourth-best throw at 55 feet and 4-3/4 inches. Despite posting a better mark on his second attempt at 56 feet and 3-1/4 inches, he slipped to sixth. A 57-foot toss on Fremeau's third try moved him back up to fourth. He stayed fourth through his final throws, but he bettered his mark on his last attempt at 58 feet and 6 inches.
Fremeau is now a four-time NCAA All-American. He also earned All-American Second Team honors in the shot put (14th-place) at the 2025 NCAA DIII Indoor Champoionships and All-American First Team honors in the shot put (5th-place) at the 2025 NCAA DIII Outdoor Championships to go along with yesterday's All-American First Team honors in the weight throw. Fremeau is the first four-time All-American in school history.
Fremeau now turns his attention to the outdoor season, which begins March 27 with a triangular at Albion College.
