UOlivet’s Fremeau finishes sixth in discus throw to earn All-American honors
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The University of Olivet junior Owen Fremeau placed sixth in the discus throw at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. With the performance, he earns NCAA All-American First Team honors.
On his third attempt, Fremeau recorded his best mark at 173 feet and 10 inches. He sat third after the first three attempts for each thrower. Two competitors passed him on their last attempt.
"Owen had a big throw in the third round to make finals and end up in sixth place," said Olivet head coach Karen Lutzke. "He has made great strides since the MIAA Field Day three weeks ago where he finished in seventh. We are really looking forward to watching him compete over the next two days in shot put and hammer throw."
Fremeau is now the first four-time NCAA All-American honoree in UOlivet history. He earned his first citation a year ago with a fifth-place finish in the shot put at the 2025 NCAA DIII Outdoor Championships. Fremeau followed that two All-American awards at the 2026 NCAA DIII Indoor Championships – finishing third in the weight throw and fourth in the shot put.
Fremeau will compete in the shot put tomorrow at 3 p.m. CT and the hammer throw on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. CT. He is seeded seventh in the shot put and fourth in the hammer. Fans can follow the events via live results at https://results.leonetiming.com/?mid=8721.
