UOlivet’s Fremeau places seventh in shot put at NCAA DIII Championships
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The University of Olivet junior Owen Fremeau finished seventh in the shot put at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held inside Veteran's Memorial Stadium at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. With the finish, he is an NCAA All-American First Team honoree.
Fremeau achieved a mark of 57 feet and 2-3/4 inches on his second attempt. He matched the performance on his fifth try. Fremeau is now a five-time NCAA First Team All-American – three times outdoors (shot put in 2025 and 2026, and discus in 2026) and twice indoors (shot put and weight throw in 2026). He also earned NCAA Second Team All-American honors in the shot put at the 2025 indoor championships.
"Two First-Team All-American finishes in two days is pretty special," said Olivet head coach Karen Lutzke. "Owen matched his seed in shot put today with some strong throws. We are looking forward to hammer throw tomorrow to round out Owen's national meet."
Fremeau will compete in the hammer throw tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. CT. He is seeded fourth in the event. Fans can follow the event via live results at https://results.leonetiming.com/?mid=8721.
