UOlivet drops four-set match to Edgewood on day one of Sabre Classic

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The University of Olivet men's volleyball team fell in four sets to Edgewood College (Wis.) in its opening match of the Marian University (Wis.) Sabre Classic tonight at Sadoff Gymnasium.
THE BASICS
- Final Score: Edgewood defeated Olivet 20-25, 25-15, 25-16, 25-18

- Records: Olivet 1-5 overall, Edgewood 2-4 overall
HOW IT HAPPENED
- At the start of the first set, the Comets led by three points on six occasions. Following the sixth time at 12-9, the Eagles used a 7-2 run to take their first lead. Olivet fought back to regain the lead at 19-18. Edgewood leveled the score at 20-20 before the Comets put the final five points on the scoreboard to win the set 25-20.
- The Eagles posted a 25-16 win in the second set.
- Edgewood raced out to a 3-1 lead in the third set. Olivet evened the score at 3-3 before the Eagles took advantage of three Comet errors for a 6-3 lead. Edgewood held the advantage for the remainder of the set, claiming a 25-16 win.
- The fourth set saw the Eagles build a six-point lead, 10-4, 13-7 and 14-8. Olivet chipped away at its deficit and trailed by only one point, 15-14. Edgewood closed the set on a 10-4 run to win it 25-18.
FOR THE COMETS
- Sophomore Silas Martin pounded down a team-best 11 kills.
- Sophomore Payton Hastings had four kills and four blocks (one solo and three assisted).
- Freshman Austin Chamblee recorded 12 set assists and seven digs.
- Junior Andy Hok tallied six digs.
UP NEXT
- On the second day of the Sabre Classic, Olivet plays Westminster College (Mo.) at 10 a.m. and the host school at 2 p.m.
