Softball Team Sweeps Doubleheader Against Manchester (Ind.) College
The Olivet College softball team swept a doubleheader today from Manchester College of Indiana, 8-4 and 4-1.

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. -- The Olivet College softball team swept a doubleheader today from Manchester College of Indiana, 8-4 and 4-1.
In the first game, the score was tied 2-2 after three innings. Olivet tallied a run in both the fourth and fifth innings and then put the game out of reach with four unearned runs in the sixth inning. At the plate, juniors Kim Horanburg (Grand Ledge High School) and Kari Munson (Lansing Eastern High School) each had two hits, a run scored and three runs batted-in. One of Horanburg's hits was a two-run home run in the first inning. Junior Jenna Little (Ortonville Brandon High School) also had two hits and sophomore Jill Shufelt (Millington High School) scored three runs for the Comets.
On the mound, freshman Erica Anderson (Casnovia/Kent City High School) improved to 4-3 this season as she pitched the first five innings. She allowed five base hits, an earned run, walked one batter and struck out two.
In the second game, Olivet led 2-1 after six innings before scoring two runs in the seventh inning. Horanburg and Munson continued their hot hitting with two hits apiece. Junior Larissa Kequom (Charlotte High School) and senior Amy Hillis (Morley High School) had three and two hits, respectively. Senior Jeana Turcheck (Taylor Truman High School) earned the win by pitching five scoreless innings to start the game. She allowed five base hits and struck out two.
Olivet will next be in action tomorrow, April 11 when it hosts Hope College in a rescheduled Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association doubleheader. The first game of the will start at 3:30 p.m. On Saturday, April 12, the Lady Comets host Kalamazoo College in another MIAA doubleheader at 1 p.m.
