Softball Team Sweeps Doubleheader Against Huntington (Ind.) College
The Olivet College softball team swept a doubleheader against NAIA foe Huntington College of Indiana today. The Lady Comets won, 11-1 and 6-0. Olivet (16-15) extended its winning streak to four games and are back over the .500 mark for the first time since the first two games of the season.
OLIVET, Mich. — The Olivet College softball team swept a doubleheader against NAIA foe Huntington College of Indiana today. The Lady Comets won, 11-1 and 6-0. Olivet (16-15) extended its winning streak to four games and are back over the .500 mark for the first time since the first two games of the season.
In the first game, Huntington scored its only run in the first inning. The Comets then scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning before adding six runs in the third. Senior Jeana Turcheck (Taylor Truman High School) improved to 2-1 as she pitched the first four innings, allowing three base hits and earned run.
Junior Kim Horanburg (Grand Ledge High School) was three-for-three with two runs scored and two runs batted-in. Senior Amy Hillis (Morley High School) and juniors Theresa Flowers (Waterford/ Kettering High School) and Kari Munson (Lansing Eastern High School) had two hits a piece. Munson, junior Jenna Little (Ortonville Brandon High School) and freshman Amanda Johnston (Mt. Morris Genesee High School) each had two RBI.
In the second game, Olivet tallied one run in the third inning. The Comets then broke the game open with five runs in the fifth inning. Hillis was two-for-two and sophomore Jill Shufelt (Millington High School) also had two base hits. Junior Larissa Kequom (Charlotte High School) hit a two-run single. Junior Stacey Dulinski (Manistee High School) picked-up the win as she allowed three base hits and struck out three.
Olivet will travel to play Goshen (Ind.) College on Monday, April 28 at 4:30 p.m. EST.
