Softball team shutout by Alma, 10-0 and 8-0
The Olivet College softball team was shutout by Alma College, 10-0 and 8-0, in its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) opening doubleheader this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College softball team was shutout by Alma College, 10-0 and 8-0, in its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) opening doubleheader this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
In the first game, the Scots scored a run in the first inning, seven more runs in the second and one each in the fourth and fifth innings. Offensively, the Comets were limited to two hits, singles by senior Lindsey Maas (Pinckney) in the first inning and junior Terri Hurosky (Nashville/Maple Valley) in the fifth inning. In the circle, freshman Maddie Siebenmark (Bridgman) allowed just three earned runs on 13 hits.
In the second game, Alma plated two runs in the first, four runs in the third and two runs in the fifth. Freshman Chelsea Luedtke (Millington) broke up a no-hitter with a two-out single in the fifth inning. Other runners reached base for Olivet after they were hit by a pitch. Sophomore Jessica Duell (Ionia) gave up four earned runs on 12 hits in four and one-third innings.
The Comets are scheduled to host Bluffton (Ohio) University for a non-conference doubleheader Monday afternoon, starting at 3:30 p.m.
