Olivet College’s Grubb earns NFCA All-Region honors
Olivet College freshman pitcher/designated player Ashlynn Grubb has earned 2014 All-Central Region honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College freshman pitcher/designated player Ashlynn Grubb (LaGrange, Ind./Lakeland) has earned 2014 All-Central Region honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). She is an at-large selection on the third-team.
At the plate, Grubb led the Comets with 41 hits, 12 doubles and 32 RBI, while ranking third with a .373 batting average. She was also among the team leaders with 110 at-bats, 29 runs scored, 60 total bases and .545 slugging percentage. The 32 RBI is the second-most in school history for a season.
In the circle, Grubb posted a 17-8 record with a 1.55 ERA in 162 and two-thirds innings. She struck out 167 and walked only 25 batters. The 17 wins were a single-season school record, while her strikeouts and innings pitched are third-most and ERA ties for the fourth-best performances in school history.
Grubb led Olivet to a 26-11 overall record during the 2014 season. The 26 victories are a single-season school record. She is the first Olivet softball player since Anna Braner and Danielle Vespa in 2009 to earn NFCA All-Region honors.
