Softball: Olivet upended by Albion in conference doubleheader

ALBION, Mich. – The University of Olivet softball team dropped a pair of games to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College this afternoon at Dempsey Field. The Britons won 9-1 and 9-0.

- Records: Olivet 3-23 overall, 0-12 MIAA; Albion 14-18 overall, 3-9 MIAA
- The Britons scored two runs in both the first and third innings to take a 4-0 lead.
- The Comets plated a run in the top half of the fifth inning. Freshman Michelle Michelin hit a leadoff triple and came around to score on freshman Kaitlyn Witkowski's squeeze bunt.
- Albion capped its scoring with a five-run sixth inning to end the game early due to the mercy rule.
- For the game, Olivet totaled four hits. Freshman Alexis Bond was 2-for-3.
- The Britons scored all nine of their runs in the first inning, and the nine runs came after two outs were recorded.
- Olivet's lone hit was a single by sophomore Mattie Akom in the bottom of the first inning.
- The Comets close out the 2024 season next week with a pair of doubleheaders. The first is Wednesday, May 1, at Adrian College, starting at 3 p.m. The second is Saturday, May 4, at home against Alma College, beginning at 1 p.m.
