HOLLAND, Mich. – The University of Olivet softball team began Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play by losing both ends of a doubleheader to Hope College, 13-0 and 12-0, today at Wolters Stadium.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- The Flying Dutch pushed across three runs in the first inning, one in the second and nine runs in the fourth for the 13-0 run-rule victory. The Comets were held to three hits, a single each for sophomore Haylie Wenke, freshman Alisha Gahn and sophomore Morgan Rachow. Freshman Cayla Konop was the losing pitcher after allowing eight runs in 11 hits over the first three and one-third innings.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Hope scored at least one run in every inning – two in the first, five in the second, one in the third and four in the fourth – for the 12-0 mercy-rule win. Olivet was limited to three singles – one each for Gahn, senior Mattie Akom and sophomore Katie Rugg. In the circle, Gahn was charged with loss after surrendering seven runs (six earned) in six hits over one and two-thirds innings.

- Olivet travels to play Saint Mary's (Ind.) College tomorrow for two games. The first starts at 3 p.m., followed by the second game around 30 minutes later.
